A Big Cannabis Compromise in the Works?
June 20, 2018--The upside potential of the cannabis industry remains enormous. However, the fact of the matter is that marijuana remains federally illegal in the United States. While sensationalism may appear to constantly dominate the news cycle, we may have received more clarity during the last week and a half regarding the prospects of the broader U.S cannabis industry perhaps than any other time in recent history.
We're not referring to Dennis Rodman's well-publicized appearances in Singapore surrounding an unprecedented summit between the heads of state of the United States and North Korea, which involved an unabashed promotion of a certain cryptocurrency sponsor. Instead, the introduction of a bicameral, bipartisan piece of legislation on June 7, an impromptu press availability by the president of the United States on June 11, and comments by the U.S. Federal Reserve chairman on June 13 brushed strokes of remarkable definition across a landscape that may be more quickly evolving than realized.

June 19, 2018--Newest SPDR ETF Keeps Industry's Largest Sector Suite Aligned with Upcoming GICS Changes
State Street Global Advisors, the asset management business of State Street Corporation (NYSE: STT), today announced the launch of the Communication Services Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLC).
The fund will provide exposure to the new Communication Services sector, unveiled by S&P Dow Jones Indices and MSCI Inc., following the annual review of the Global Industry Classification Standard (GICS) structure in November 2017.

June 19, 2018--Assets in actively managed ETFs added $376 million last week to reach $57.54 billion in total net assets.
ARK Investment led new AUM growth with $128 million followed by JP Morgan, which gained $97 million.
A single fund launched last week, which boosted the total of actively managed ETFs currently trading to 233.

June 19, 2018-The Securities and Exchange Commission today published a draft strategic plan that focuses on investors, innovation, and performance as the top strategic goals in coming years.
The SEC is seeking public comment on the proposed draft that will guide the SEC's priorities through FY 2022.
The plan highlights the SEC's commitment to serving the long-term interests of Main Street investors; becoming more innovative, responsive, and resilient to market developments and trends; and leveraging staff expertise, data and analytics to bolster performance.

June 19, 2018--A group of market participants led by Cboe Global Markets has asked the SEC for permission to create a committee to analyze potential changes and improvements to the U.S. options market.
In a letter to the Securities and Exchange Commission, Cboe, along with the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association and the Security Traders Association, warned of "unintended consequences" impacting the options market resulting from changes in equity market regulations, including Regulation National Market System in 2005.

June 19, 2018-BlackRock Inc. will shutter 16 exchange-traded funds in smart-beta and multifactor strategies a few months after introducing a lineup of artificial intelligence-driven products.
The last day of trading for the funds will be Aug. 15, the company said in a statement Friday. The funds held about $91 million in assets at the end of May, according to the company.
