Treasury Releases First Report on Core Principles of Financial Regulation Stimulating Economic Growth, Increasing Access to Capital & Taxpayer Protection Are Top Priorities
June 12, 2017-The U.S. Department of the Treasury today issued its first in a series of reports to President Donald J. Trump examining the United States' financial regulatory system and detailing executive actions and regulatory changes that can be immediately undertaken to provide much-needed relief.
"Properly structuring regulation of the U.S. financial system is critical to achieve the administration's goal of sustained economic growth and to create opportunities for all Americans to benefit from a stronger economy," said U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven T. Mnuchin. "We are focused on encouraging a market environment where consumers have more choices, access to capital and safe loan products-while ensuring taxpayer-funded bailouts are truly a thing of the past."

DeFAANGed: 10 Most Exposed ETFs
June 11, 2017--The market's "Fab Five" technology stocks-Facebook (FB), Amazon (AMZN), Apple (AAPL), Netflix (NFLX) and Google (GOOGL and/or GOOG)-often called by their acronym FAANG, had a bad day on Friday after research notes from Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Asset Management and others warned that these stocks were too expensive.
Owning these five stocks, which together accounted for more than 40% of the S&P 500's gains this year before Friday's selloff according to an article in this weekend's edition of Barron's, are an extremely crowded trade.

Barclays to Automatically Redeem the iPath(R) Short Enhanced MSCI Emerging Markets Index ETN
June 9, 2017--Barclays Bank PLC announced today the automatic redemption of the iPath(R) Short Enhanced MSCI Emerging Markets Index Exchange Traded Note (ticker: EMSA) (the "ETNs").
The ETNs are being redeemed as the result of an automatic termination event occurring on June 8, 2017, the automatic termination date.

BlackRock names Goldman Sachs' Brownlie as U.S. head of fixed-income ETFs
June 8, 2017--BlackRock Inc said on Thursday it hired Goldman Sachs' Heather Brownlie as its U.S. head of fixed-income ETFs.
Brownlie, who most recently was the global head of fixed-income for private wealth management in Goldman Sachs' investment management division, will lead BlackRock's fixed-income ETFs unit across product, sales, capital markets and marketing, a BlackRock spokeswoman said.

June 8, 2017--Horizons ETFs Management (Canada) Inc. ("Horizon ETFs") has announced that it will change the name of the Horizons Medical Marijuana Life Sciences ETF to "Horizons Marijuana Life Sciences Index ETF" effective on or about June 15, 2017.y.
Its primary ticker symbol, HMMJ, will remain the same. HMMJ is the first ETF in the world that offers direct exposure to North American-listed companies with significant business activities in the marijuana industry.

FINRA Issues Research on Securitized-Asset Liquidity
June 8, 2017--The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Office of the Chief Economist today posted a new Research Note on liquidity in structured products, complementing an earlier report on corporate-bond liquidity.
The new analysis focused on two categories of products: real-estate securities, including mortgage-backed securities in residential housing and commercial buildings, as well as collateralized mortgage products and to-be-announced forward mortgages; and asset-backed securities in credit cards, automobiles, student loans and other miscellaneous products.
