March 31, 2015--India's equity markets suffered in March as the S&P BSE SENSEX recorded a loss of 4.6%.
Nonetheless, the markets have completed a positive quarter and, with Indian corporates closing the books on the financial year, the 12-month returns remain stellar.
Financials and commodity-related companies were best avoided this month and this quarter. Health Care, on the other hand, was by far the best performer and achieved a hat-trick: the best-performing sector this month, quarter and financial year.

March 31, 2015--China's asset-management industry is expanding quickly, spurring a need for more regulation, senior officials say.
Asset management has opened to banks, insurers, brokers and others, and "their standards in regulation are not 100% the same,", said Zhang Hongli, vice president of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China.

March 30, 2015--Summary: This paper documents and assesses the risk stemming from rising corporate indebtedness in China using a firm-level dataset of listed firms. It finds that while leverage on average is not high, there is a fat tail of highly leveraged firms accounting for a significant share of total corporate debt, mainly concentrated in the real estate and construction sector and state-owned enterprises in general.
The real estate and construction firms tend to face lower borrowing costs and could withstand a modest increase of interest rate shocks despite their high leverage. The corporate sector is however vulnerable to a significant slowdown in the real estate and construction sector. Our sensitivity analysis suggests that the share of debt that would be in financial distress would rise to about a quarter of total listed firm debt in the event of a 20 percent decline in real estate and construction profits.

March 27, 2015--Change to aid stock connect scheme-official
Interest in the Shanghai-Hong Kong link has waned
China's securities regulator said on Friday it would let mainland mutual funds invest in Hong Kong shares via the Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect.
The move may gave some support to the cross-border trading scheme, which has seen dwindling interest from investors.

March 27, 2015--NZX's Smartshares unit, which is being combined with new acquisition Superlife this year, is launching three more exchange traded funds, giving investors exposure to Australia's resource and financial sector and dividend-paying New Zealand stocks.
The Wellington-based stock market operator has registered prospectuses for three funds-the Australia Resources Fund tracking the S&P/ASX 200 Resources Index, the Australian Financials Fund, which follows the S&P/ASX 200 Financials Ex-A-REIT Index and the NZ Dividend Fund which tracks the S&P/NZX 50 High Dividend Index, it said in a statement.

March 26, 2015--NZX is pleased to announce that following approval by the Financial Markets Authority, NZX equity options are expected to launch on 24 April 2015.
Equity options are another step in the development of New Zealand's capital markets, and follow the introduction of the NZX20 Index futures contracts in June 2014.

March 25, 2015--With the listing of China's first MSCI China A Index tracking exchange-traded fund ("ETF") on the Shanghai Stock Exchange managed by China Asset Management Co., Limited ("ChinaAMC"), foreign and domestic investors are now able to capture the opportunity of A share market through the aforementioned listed vehicle.
ChinaAMC MSCI China A ETF(512990) commenced trading on the Shanghai Stock Exchange on March 25. The ETF was traded at between RMB1.092 and RMB1.118 per unit on the first day of trading and closed at RMB1.108 per unit. Approximately 2,001 million units of the ETF changed hands, representing a total turnover of approximately RMB2,213 million on its trading debut.

March 25, 2015--Value Partners, one of the region's biggest independent asset managers, has launched its latest RQFII A-shares ETF, targeting those stocks its proprietary screening process deems to be undervalued.
The ETF, launched through its Value Partners Hong Kong Limited subsidiary, will track a customised index as it seeks to deliver excess returns. The Value China A-share ETF listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on March 24.

March 24, 2015--ADB's Asian Development Outlook (ADO) 2015 projects that Developing Asia will grow at a steady 6.3% in 2015 and 2016, supported by a strengthening recovery in the major industrial economies and soft global commodity prices.
The drop in international oil prices is taking pressure off of consumer prices. Inflation will slow from 3.1% in 2014 to 2.6% in 2015.
