Jefferies reportedly cuts commodities-futures brokerage staff
March 7, 2015--Investment bank Jefferies Group LLC [JGLL.UL], owned by Leucadia National Corp (LUK.N), has cut about 20 jobs in its commodities futures brokerage in New York and Chicago, three sources familiar with the cuts said on Friday.
People affected by the move were let go on Thursday, the sources told Reuters, in what was described as a sweep that affected employees who handled energy, softs and metals markets.

March 6, 2015--Global investment firm Janus Capital Group, Inc. seems to be on track with its business strengthening initiatives.
The Denver, CO-based company obtained a preliminary approval from the Securities and Exchanges Commission (SEC) to offer a set of exchange traded funds (ETFs).

First Bridge Data- 'ETF 20/20 Report' March 2015
March 5, 2015--Our monthly 'ETF 20/20' report summarizes the most important recent Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) trends in the US. It uses data from the First Bridge global ETF database
US ETF assets rose in February 2015 to $2.094T, with the S&P 500 Index having its best monthly gain since October 2011.
The CAPE (or Shiller P/E) ratio ended February 2015 at 27.81, though likely more as a consequence of excess global liquidity than 'irrational exuberance'.
The Wisdom Tree Europe Hedged ETF (HEDJ) took in over $5Bn in net inflows in the first two months of 2015, significantly outpacing unhedged Europe equity ETFs.
State Street (SPDR) announced expense ratio fee cuts on 41 ETFs in the US. It is likely a competitive reaction to the asset gathering success of Vanguard, which tends to be at the lower end of the cost spectrum, and Blackrock's 'iShares core' initiative.
22 ETFs were launched in the US in 2015.
Indian small cap and China A shares ETFs were the best performing ETF categories in the trailing 12 months through February 2015, underscoring the contrasting fortunes of the different BRIC markets.

U.S. mutual funds cut expenses by shifting billions to trusts
March 4, 2015--Mutual fund companies, including No. 2 Fidelity Investments, have slashed fees on their most popular funds by shifting billions of dollars into collective trusts not regulated by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
The growing shift to collective trusts could prove a weapon for actively managed mutual funds losing out to low cost passive investment products such as the exchange-traded funds offered by rivals such as Vanguard Group, the biggest mutual fund company. For investors, one drawback is less transparency about the risks and performances of their holdings.
