Treasury ETFs Inflows Outpacing All Other Bond Funds This Month
April 27, 2015--Exchange-traded funds that hold U.S. Treasuries are seeing more cash inflows this month than any other fixed-income funds for the first time this year.
U.S. government debt ETFs have brought in $1.5 billion since March, according to Bloomberg data. If that trend holds, it will be the first time since October that inflows into the funds will outpace those of other bond ETFs.

Vanguard looking to license its cost-cutting ETF patent
April 26, 2015--Vanguard is considering letting others in on its exclusive right to offer exchange traded funds as a share class of existing mutual funds through a licensing agreement with USAA.
Officials from the two firms confirmed they are negotiating a deal that would give USAA access to Vanguard's patent-protected ETF share class methodology.

BlackRock to pay $12 mln in SEC conflict of interest case
April 20, 2015--BlackRock Inc, one of the world's largest asset managers, agreed to pay $12 million to resolve U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission charges that a unit failed to disclose a conflict of interest created by the outside business activity of a top portfolio manager.
The SEC on Monday said BlackRock Advisors LLC breached its fiduciary duties to clients by failing to disclose that Daniel Rice, who oversaw some energy funds and separate accounts, was running a family-owned oil and natural gas company that ultimately became the largest holding of a fund he ran for BlackRock.

Volcker calls for U.S. financial regulation shakeup
April 20, 2015--The U.S. financial regulatory system is outdated and riddled with loopholes, former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker said on Monday as he offered an overhaul plan to make watchdogs more effective.
The rise of the shadow banking sector-companies that provide credit but are not regulated as banks -demonstrates the urgency of regulatory reform, which failed to take root after the 2007-09 financial crisis, he said.

Institutional use of ETFs due to grow next year
P&I survey also details why some asset owners prefer not to use them,br>April 20, 2015--Some 34% of officials at defined benefit plans, foundations and endowments say they use ETFs or ETNs, and of those, one-uarter plan to increase their usage, a new Pensions & Investments survey shows.
Among non-users, about 14% of those surveyed say it's "somewhat likely" they would begin to invest via exchange-traded funds and notes within the next year, according to the survey.
