Supreme Court hears vastly different insider trading arguments
October 5, 2016--The U.S. Supreme Court must now determine whether a gift of information to family or a friend is enough to prove "benefit" for a tipper suspected of insider trading, following oral arguments in Salman v. United States on Oct. 5.
The "personal benefit" test, which originated in Dirks v. SEC over 30 years ago, stated an insider must receive some sort of personal benefit in order for illegal insider trading to have occurred. In addition, the court deemed the disclosure of non-public information to a friend or family member constituted a personal benefit.

John Hancock Investments adds five sector ETFs to commission-free[1] line up available through Schwab ETF OneSource(TM)
October 5, 2016--John Hancock Investments announced today that five of the company's sector-based ETFs have been added by Charles Schwab to their Schwab ETF OneSource(TM) program.
All 11 John Hancock Multifactor ETFs are now available commission free on the platform, under certain conditions.

Franklin Templeton Launches Actively Managed ETF Suite
October 5, 2016--Franklin Templeton Investments today launched a new suite of actively managed ETFs to its Franklin LibertyShares platform.
The suite includes two new active ETFs, Franklin Liberty U.S. Low Volatility ETF (FLLV) and Franklin Liberty Investment Grade Corporate ETF (FLCO), as well as Franklin Liberty Short Duration U.S. Government ETF (FTSD), an active ETF launched in 2013.

CBOE Holdings Reports September 2016 Trading Volume
October 4, 2016--Total ADV Up 25% from August 2016, 3% from Year Ago.
CBOE Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: CBOE) reported today that September average daily volume (ADV) for options contracts traded on Chicago Board Options Exchange(R) (CBOE(R)) and C2 Options Exchange (C2), and futures contracts traded on CBOE Futures Exchange (CFE(R)) was 5.1 million contracts, an increase of 25 percent from August 2016 and 3 percent from September 2015.

October 4, 2016--Intercontinental Exchange (NYSE: ICE), a leading operator of global exchanges and clearing houses and provider of data and listings services, announced it has today completed its all-cash acquisition of S&P Global's (NYSE: SPGI) Standard & Poor's Securities Evaluations (SPSE), a leading provider of fixed income evaluated pricing, and Credit Market Analysis (CMA), a leading provider of independent data for the over-the-counter (OTC) markets, including credit derivatives and bonds.
The transaction was announced in March.
