Renaissance Capital US IPO Week Ahead: Private equity pivots to consumer and tech with 3 deals on the calendar
March 3, 2017--The three notable deals on the IPO calendar are all PE-backed: women's apparel retailer J.Jill (JILL), information technology reseller Presidio (PSDO) and high-end parka maker Canada Goose (GOOS).
Eight PE-backed deals have raised a total of $4.1 billion this year, most from Energy and Industrials sectors. This year is outpacing 2016 when 30 deals raised $8.8 billion, with no PE-backed deals in the 1Q16.

Direxion Announces Reverse and Forward Share Splits of Fifteen ETFs
March 2, 2017--Direxion has announced it will execute reverse share splits for eight of its exchange-traded funds ("ETFs"), as well as forward share splits for another seven ETFs.
The total market value of the shares outstanding will not be affected as a result of these splits, except with respect to the redemption of fractional shares, as outlined below.

FIA has submitted comments urging the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to assess whether position limits are needed and to expand exemptions for hedging activities before setting any new federal position limits
March 1, 2017--The Securities and Exchange Commission today voted to adopt rule and form amendments to make it easier for investors and other market participants to find and access exhibits in registration statements and periodic reports that were originally provided in previous filings.
The amendments will require issuers to include a hyperlink to each exhibit in the filing’s exhibit index. Currently, someone seeking to retrieve and access an exhibit that has been incorporated by reference must review the exhibit index to determine the filing in which the exhibit is included, and then must search through the registrant's filings to locate the relevant filing.

Thompson Hine Update: DOL Proposes Fiduciary Rule Delay-Employee Benefits & Investment Management Update
March 1, 2017--On March 2, 2017, the Department of Labor (DOL) is slated to publish a highly anticipated proposed rule that, once final, will delay by 60 days the applicability date of the DOL's final fiduciary rule and related prohibited transaction exemptions (collectively, the Final Rule).
The proposed rule's stated purpose is to allow the DOL to examine whether the Final Rule will adversely affect Americans' access to retirement information and financial advice.
