October 19, 2017--Virtus ETF Solutions, an affiliate of Virtus Investment Partners, Inc. (NASDAQ: VRTS), today announced the launch of the Virtus WMC Global Factor Opportunities ETF (NYSE Arca: VGFO), subadvised by Wellington Management Company LLP.

RBC Global Asset Management launches five new income-oriented ETFs
October 19, 2017--RBC Global Asset Management Inc. (RBC GAM Inc.) today announced the launch of five new Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs).
The offering of the new RBC ETFs has closed and they will begin trading today on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
Four of these new ETFs leverage investment capabilities from the fixed income teams at RBC Global Asset Management, which includes Phillips, Hager & North Investment Management and BlueBay Asset Management, to provide Canadian ETF investors with access to a broad spectrum of expertise.

The Forum at ETF Research Center-Insurers Drag Down Q3 S&P 500 Profits
October 19, 2017--With less than 20% of S&P 500 firms having reported 3Q17 results, it is still early in earnings season. However, by blending results from companies that have reported with the latest consensus estimates for firms that have yet to report we can get a broad idea of how overall index profits are likely to shape up for the third quarter.
The main conclusion as that while profits in the Energy sector (XLE) are rebounding, dramatically lower earnings among Insurance firms-and in many case losses-are dragging the whole Financial sector (XLF) down with it. Meanwhile Technology (XLK) remains one of the largest contributors to index earnings growth, as it has been in recent years.

Simulated portfolios based on momentum add remarkable value, in most time periods and in most asset classes, all over the world; however, live results for mutual funds that take on a momentum factor loading are surprisingly weak.
A primary contributor to the performance gap between the standard momentum factor's live and theoretical results is the price impact of trading costs associated with the strategy's high turnover.
In addition to thoughtful implementation, relying on a strong sell discipline and avoiding stocks with stale momentum can help investors capture more of the benefits of the momentum factor.

Macro
It was a big week for news but a very quiet for markets.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.47%, the S&P 500 was up 0.17%, the NASDAQ moved ahead by 0.24% but the Russell 2000 fell 0.51%.
Bloomberg believes that the public spat between President Trump and Tennessee Senator Bob Corker jeopardizes the much discussed and eagerly awaited tax reform.
