Options traders lost big from tweak in short volatility ETPs: strategists
February 28, 2018--Options traders suffered big losses due to recent changes in the investment objective of ProShare Capital Management LLC's two exchange traded funds that track near-term equity volatility futures, derivatives strategists said on Wednesday.
Traders who owned options on ProShares Short VIX Short-Term Futures ETF (SVXY.P) and ProShares Ultra VIX Short-Term Futures ETF (UVXY.P) have lost at least $100 million in premiums, according to Pravit Chintawongvanich, head of derivatives strategy at Macro Risk Advisors in New York.

U.S. Fed to publish Libor alternatives April 3
February 28, 2018--The U.S. central bank will begin publishing on April 3 reference rates based on the repurchase agreements backed by Treasury securities, which are seen as alternatives to the London interbank offered rate (LIBOR),the New York Federal Reserve said on Wednesday.

Bristol Gate Capital Partners, a boutique investment manager, became the 29th firm to join the roster of Canadian ETF providers this week, bringing two equity funds to the Toronto Stock Exchange: Bristol Gate Concentrated Canadian Equity ETF (BGC) and Bristol Gate Concentrated U.S. Equity ETF (BGU).

HIG.UN unitholders voted 99.3% in favour, and TLF.UN unitholders voted 98.1% in favour of the Fund's respective extraordinary resolutions.

February 27, 2018--To those looking to blame exchange-traded funds for the market correction earlier this month, Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell says they're mostly innocent.
"We looked carefully to try to understand really what did happen and it seems the markets were generally orderly through almost all of that time," Powell said during testimony to Congress Tuesday.
