OFR-Interconnectedness in the Global Financial Market

September 27, 2016--This working paper shows how network analysis can facilitate the monitoring of movements by stocks in the global financial system over time.

The paper analyzes nearly 4,000 stocks in 15 countries. It concludes that stock returns tend to move together within regions-but not across them-in times of stability, but move in sync globally in times of crisis.

Deutsche Boerse Asia plans sidelined by LSE merger effort

September 27, 2016--Deutsche Boerse's (DB1Gn.DE) expansion plans in Asia have been moved to a side track as the German exchange operator focuses on its $27 billion merger with the London Stock Exchange (LSE.L), three sources familiar with the situation said.

China's foreign exchange trading operator CFETS and Deutsche Boerse signed an agreement last October to establish a 50-50 joint venture in Germany to connect their markets and spur product innovation. The plan was to launch the JV this year but this has now been delayed, the people said.

Effective Carbon Rates: Pricing CO2 through taxes and emissions trading systems presents new data on effective carbon rates on CO2-emissions for energy use across 6 economic sectors in 41 countries-34 OECD member countries and 7 partner economies: Argentina, Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Russia and South Africa.
